JOB TITLE: Social Media Intern
LOCATON: Ilford, Essex
PUPOSE OF JOB: This is an exciting opportunity to work across Archant London’s flagship website London24.com. This role will sit within the Marketing team and will be responsible for driving audience to London24.com through best use of social media and growing our communities on social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Flickr.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Editorial, Marketing and Digital teams to manage London24’s community groups on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites
- Work closely with the Digital Development Manager to understand the behaviour of London24’s communities and the impact of that behaviour
- To participate in minute by minute conversations that surround London24 content and the brand
- To answer comments and act as a mediator
- To source relevant content from around the web and share with London24 community groups
- To respond to user feedback, internal and external enquiries as necessary and to ensure such feedback is channelled to the relevant person or department
- Monitor competitor communities and be able to spot trends and topics that impact London24 and it’s communities
- To keep own skills and knowledge up to date
- Provide weekly and monthly reports on progress of social media activity within the London24 communities
SPECIFIC SKILLS / COMPETENCIES / EXPERIENCE:
- A good understanding of the social media universe, i.e. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr
- Able to juggle multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, product-focused, team environment
- Strong initiative and self-starting approach to work effectively in an area of potential rapid growth
- Ability to source relevant content from around the web
- A good level of discretion to identify threats and opportunities in user generated content
- A good level of verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work individually on a project or in a team environment
