Submitted by maddy.power on Thu, 09/01/2011 - 11:06
The purpose of the Active Citizens programme is to develop intercultural dialogue and global citizenship with the guiding principle ‘globally connected, locally engaged’. It will contribute to positive social change within communities and to global sustainable development, by establishing an enduring global network of leaders who as influencers in their communities’ dialogue, learn and act together to address global and local issues.
The East London Active Citizens programme will include:
- A five day high quality training programme in Active Citizenship and Global Youth Work
- Access to tools and training manuals, to help you cascade the workshop content to colleagues and young people
- Support from a mentor and a small grant of £300 to help you deliver Social Action Projects with young people, using what you have learnt to make a positive impact in your community
- Online networkingwith youth leaders in Bangladesh to learn about different international perspectives
- The opportunity to take part in a two-way intercultural exchange with Bangladesh
